Oberthur Card Systems has introduced CosmopolIC Lite, a new low-end, Java and Visa-certified smart card for multi-application projects.
The product will allow financial institutions to easily deploy new smart card applications with a large storage capacity at a reasonable cost, says the company.
CosmopolIC Lite complies with the most recent Visa specifications and incorporates the new smart Visa Framework - designed by Visa USA and developed by Oberthur late last year.
The smart card can be used to pay for goods or services via the Visa Smart Debit Credit application and gain secure access to Web services. It can also be adapted to the card issuers' needs and hold loyalty, logical access, authentication and user-oriented applications. Additionally the card can be integrated into Oberthur's security solutions such as Convenient Storage (an offline data storage application) and AuthentIC Web Assistant (an online security application).
