FirstMerit Investment Services account owners can now view their account status, trade stocks and mutual funds, review investment research, get quotes and review the status of orders 24 hours a day, seven days a week, via the bank's Web site.

Felice Larmer, CFP, president of FirstMerit Investment Services (FMIS), comments: "FirstMerit Online Investing is an enhancement to our discount brokerage operations, which have always emphasised personal service. We know the marketplace wants state-of-the-art self-management tools, yet doesn't want to give up the personal interaction with our financial consultants in the process."

FMIS currently has more than 35,000 investment clients.
