Spanish payment processor Sistema 4B is to use the Prism fraud detection solution from ACI Worldwide to stamp down on rising levels of debit card crime.
"Sistema 4B drives the ATM and POS networks for more than 30 commercial banks in Spain and is playing a major role in the development of new e-payment technology," explains Jose Sanjuan, deputy general manager of 4B. He says the Prism system will be used to help protect banks from debit card fraud.
Prism employs neural network technology that integrates with 4B's existing processing operation. The system identifies subtle patterns of fraudulent behavior by comparing individual card usage with known patterns of fraud and monitors transactions in a near real-time environment. When a suspicious transaction is found, the neural network flags it for investigation.
