Island ECN kiosks brings trading to the streets

Editorial

This content has been selected, created and edited by the Finextra editorial team based upon its relevance and interest to our community.

The kiosks provide users with real-time access to the Island BookViewer - a tool which lists a stock's top 15 buy and sell orders on the ECN. This information allows investors to see the orders awaiting execution and the levels of supply and demand for a stock.

For those visitors not familiar with Island, the kiosks also feature a BookViewer demonstration, which explains how orders are placed on Island and matched for execution.

Andrew Goldman, executive vice president, corporate affairs and communications at Island ECN, comments: "Netkey's solution is rugged enough to withstand extraordinary physical circumstances and smart enough to keep the content timely and engaging for users."

Island ECN's first two Web-enabled kiosks that passers-by may access are located outside The Island marketplace broadcast studio in Manhattan, next door to the New York Stock Exchange.

Netkey's Web kiosk management system monitors the relevant kiosks, generating usage reports, analysing data and scheduling and managing content.
