The commission-based advertising campaign is designed for large-scale customer acquisition, as well as to raise c2it awareness, says James Rose, chief marketing officer of Citi's e-mail funds transfer system.

"We chose to run a performance-based advertising programme to maximise exposure of our product on the Internet and optimise our marketing dollars," he says.

Under the agreement, c2it will pay referring Web publishers $5 for each new approved member. Commission Junction will provide the tracking, reporting and payment services for c2it.
