Ripple boss hints at IPO

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has hinted that the blockchain-flavoured payments network could go public, with an IPO in the next 12 months.

Speaking on the sidelines at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Garlinghouse told the Wall Street Journal on Thursday that an initial public offering (IPO) is a “natural evolution” for the company.

“In the next 12 months, you’ll see IPOs in the crypto/blockchain space. We’re not going to be the first and we’re not going to be the last, but I expect us to be on the leading side,” he said.

Ripple last month raised $200 million in a Series C funding round that valued the company at $10 billion.
