The bank is looking for software and systems engineers, systems architects, solution designers, project managers, and IT and business analysts.

Edinburgh will be home to 100 of the new recruits, with another 20 based in Newcastle, joining 20 staffers recruited in November for a tech hub in the North East city.

David Bowerman, COO, Tesco Bank, says: "We are looking for people who want to work collaboratively as part of an agile team, with new cloud-based technology, in a business with exciting plans and potential."

In 2018, the FCA fined Tesco Bank £16.4 million for its failure to prevent a cyber attack that affected thousands of customers.
