Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) is looking to gain access to Toronto's AI expertise through a partnership with the Canadian city's Mars fintech cluster.
SMBC joins the likes of CIBC and Interac as partners in the fintech cluster at the Mars Discovery District innovation hub in downtown Toronto.
Toronto has established itself as a leading AI centre, with a host of world class research institutions and a thriving startup scene.
SMBC says it wants to use the Mars network of startups working in AI and other cutting edge areas to accelerate its own digital innovation strategy, exploring collaboration that can benefit its corporate clients in Japan.
