Apple warns against storing card in leather and denim

Burnishing its reputation for form over function, Apple has warned owners of its new titanium credit card not to put it into contact with denim, leather, or other cards.

In an effort to distinguish itself from rivals, Apple decided to make its first credit card - which launched this week - out of titanium.

The material gives Apple's card an aesthetic edge and weighty feel. But it does come with drawbacks, such as the inability to carry it in a leather wallet or jean pocket.

On a support page, Apple warns that some fabrics, like leather and denim, "might cause permanent discoloration that will not wash off".

What's more, the card is liable to get scratched if it comes into contact with coins, keys or other cards.

To keep the status symbol pristine, owners are advised to store it in a "wallet, pocket, or bag made of soft materials".

If it does get stained, users should "gently wipe with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free microfiber cloth" and then "moisten a soft, microfiber cloth with isopropyl alcohol and gently wipe".

Predictably, the news has been roundly mocked on social media.

Speaking as a representative of the male half of the population, pretty sure leather, denim and other cards are all involved in my back pocket where I keep my wallet.
