Initially Web-enabled, the Macalla Mobility Platform also ensures that Staalbankiers’ banking and broking services can be made available over other channels - such as mobile phones, interactive voice, and interactive digital TV - as required.

Dutch systems integrator, CMG Finance BV, assisted with the implementation.

Henk van Oosten, manager e-business at Staalbankiers, says: "The Macalla Mobility Platform was chosen because of its ability to easily connect to different kinds of back-office systems. It also supports a clean separation between content generation and content presentation - through the use of true XML handling technologies - enabling independent development of display pages."

Niall O’Cleirigh, CEO of Macalla adds: "Stringent security measures and personalised content delivery available on different devices were crucial to the bank’s requirements. Looking ahead, Staalbankiers has the ability to seamlessly extend its banking and broking services across other digital channels (including WAP, interactive voice, and iDTV) as well as over GPRS, and 3G."

Staalbankiers’ clients can now use the Internet to buy and sell stocks and options, manage their trading orders, and view their portfolio information. Online banking services available include the ability for users to view their account balances, access secure payment facilities, and request funds transfer, summary statements and transaction histories.
