Italian insurer the Generali Group has deployed Vitria Technology’s BusinessWare integration server to offer its 12 million customers a Web-based financial services portal and online banking facilities.
The online bank, Banca Generali, offers a suite of financial services and investment funds. The Generali Group aims to grow the bank’s customer base from 30,000 to one million by 2003.
Mr. Forneris, responsible for Internet projects in Generali Group, says the company was after a solution that could integrate its various systems, be able to handle different standards, such as XML or SNA protocols, be highly flexible and reliable, and bring products to market in less than six months.
"We’re also using Vitria to integrate our insurance and financial services into a one-stop shop, so we can ultimately provide our customers with integrated management of the customer relationship based on needs, rather than products," he adds.
