TD adds 'digital concierge' to app

Canada's TD Bank is rolling out a 'digital concierge' mobile service that promises to keep customers informed of personalised offers, tips and information.

Tapping mobile intelligence tech from local startup Flybits, the TD for Me service uses information about customers' location and interests to ping TD-related content like special nearby offers and details on local events.

Rizwan Khalfan, chief digital and payments officer, TD, says: "TD for Me expands on our ability to be there for customers by creating more intuitive, personalised and relevant experiences that go beyond traditional banking."

Customers who opt into the service and update the main TD mobile app will receive instant notifications when they enter or favourite a TD for Me zone. They also have the ability to browse within the app for items of interest and can turn notifications on and off.

Information available in TD for Me zones will include details on local branches and TD-related community events; tips on getting more value from their everyday experiences with the bank; special offers and discounts; and suggestions when travelling abroad.

This is not the first time that TD has enlisted a startup to help it boost its mobile offering. It has also licensed mobile financial management software from neo-bank Moven to enable customers to track their spending on the move.

Colleen Johnston, group head, direct channels, technology, marketing and corporate and public affairs, TD, says: "TD for Me is another example of how TD is adapting, innovating and collaborating with start-ups to deliver highly personalised solutions to our customers."
