Chambers and Wilkinson co-found and led Nationwide's innovation unit, in charge of a multi-million pound budget dedicated to experimenting with new technology, such as biometrics, wearable payments, and artificial intelligence.

However, after several years at the building society, the two have now taken to Twitter to reveal that they are quitting at the end of December to set up their own shop, called Lab12.

According to its website, Lab12 will work with clients to "form innovative ideas, shape them into solid propositions and bring them to life by turning them into fantastic experiences that drive growth".
