Brazilian insurance company Golden Cross has gone live with the MedLink health eligibility and claims system developed by software house Datatek.
MedLink was developed using Postilion technology from US-based software house Mosaic. Golden Cross can now process eligibility and claims submissions and receive authorisations for patient treatment in real time in a single electronic transaction.
The healthcare system has been designed to accept transactions from point-of-sale/electronic funds transfer(POS/EFT) devices, PC Windows applications, Web browsers, servers and call centre applications. Transactions are routed to a network processing system based on a cluster of Compaq Proliant Servers running Mosaic’s Postilion Transaction Manager.
Marcos Leite, claims processing superintendent, Golden Cross, says: "The system is expected to save us more than 50% on out-patient analysis costs and more than 30% on call centre costs. This is because of its ability to automatically process the rules used by our analysts and operators to authorise services and pay claims."
In the next 12 months, it is expected that more than 400,000 transactions per month - or 80% of Golden Cross out-patient total claims - will be processed by the MedLink system.
