Clearing and settlements organisation Clearstream International has confirmed the appointment of André Roelants as CEO. Roelants was appointed as a temporary measure on 15 May 2001 when former CEO André Lussi was suspended. This was pending the outcome of an investigation by the Public Prosecutor in Luxembourg of money laundering and other allegations contained in the book Révélation$.
No evidence has been brought forward in the money laundering and related investigations as reported by the Luxembourg judicial authorities on 9 July 2001. But Clearstream has indicated in a statement that the investigations continue on some other matters.
The board has acknowledged the enormous contribution made by André Lussi in building the company to its current stature. It says it is looking forward to the swift and full completion of all aspects of the investigations.
