Asset Control, which was previously owned by Fidelity Ventures, counts Barclays Global Investors, Wachovia, Standard Chartered and Grupo Santander among its clients.

The firm's future had been the subject of speculation for some time in light of the acquisition of fellow data management specialists PolarLake and Cadis by Bloomberg and Markit, respectively.

The firm says that the Marlin deal will enable it to invest in its products and strategic initiatives and support its current client base.

Dean Goodermote, CEO, Asset Control, says: "This is a very positive step for Asset Control and our clients, providing greater strategic clarity for the company. It is a clear vote of confidence in the business and our products, and will enable us to focus on developing both."
