The bank says that since a soft launch of Quick Balance last month, three out of four users to have opted in to the feature are using it at least once a day.

This chimes with a recently released Federal Reserve Board survey, which found that balance and transaction history checking is still by far the most popular activity among Americans who use mobile banking, carried out by 87%.

Jamie Armistead, SVP, multi-channel banking, Bank of the West, says: "Since our soft launch last month, usage and feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. We've doubled our active mobile banking users and had a three-fold increase in log-ins per day."

The new Android and iOS app also lets customers deposit cheques using their cameras, pay bills, monitor account activity, make fund transfers, and find ATMs and branches.

Props to @BankoftheWest. May this open the floodgates for other password-less features on mobile banking such as forex rates, last 3 transactions, credit card due amount, etc.
