US online consumer financial services company Juniper Bank has extended its wireless banking capabilities, powered by Aether Technologies, to owners of Palm OS-based personal digital assistants (PDAs).
Juniper customers can now use their Palm devices to view account balances, pay bills, receive alerts about important account activity and transfer funds to external bank accounts - a feature offered by no other financial institution, claims Juniper.
The bank says it will add additional wireless devices to its offering in the coming months and points to research from Cahners In-Stat Group which indicates that wireless devices, including PDAs, will displace the PC over the next several years as the preferred Internet access method. The company predicts sales of wireless Internet access devices will experience double- to triple-digit growth through 2004, and users of wireless data services in the US could grow to more than 36 million in 2005.
