The technology team supporting the Mellon Global Cash Management (GCM) business has achieved Level 2 Capability Maturity Model ranking.
Developed by Carnegie Mellon University's Software Engineering Institute, the model provides a five-step evolutionary framework for measuring and improving an organisation's software development efforts. Level 2 CMM designation acknowledges adherence to a strict set of project management practices in developing software applications.
Mellon GCM's Systems and Check Systems unit consists of approximately 190 software engineers. It is the third Mellon software engineering team to attain CMM Level 2.
"Information technology is a core component of the total solutions Mellon GCM provides its clients, especially with our emphasis on e-commerce services," says Robert Stasik, executive vice president and head of Mellon GCM. "Our Level 2 CMM ranking emphasises the importance we place on resources, management support and meeting."
