UK IT consultancy Catalyst has hired former Barclays Global Investors CIO Paul Stevens to head up its new asset management division.
At Barclays, Stevens managed a global team of 450 staff and oversaw the creation and implementation of a firm-wide IT governance process. He was also responsible for eliminating $40m in costs through a rigorous cost-management and optimisation programme.
Stevens joined Barclays from JP Morgan Investment Management where he was global head of application development. Prior to this he was head of custody systems at SG Warburg.
Catalyst, which specialises in complex IT change programmes, says the new unit will provide IT implementation services to asset management firms, focusing on the incorporation of OTCs within existing infrastructures, portfolio controls for compliance modelling and checking and market data systems.
Acting as practise leader of the new division, Stevens will be responsible for driving the unit's growth.
