Malaysia's Commerce Asset Fund Managers live with Charles River IMS

Commerce Asset Fund Managers (CAFM) of Malaysia has deployed Charles River Development's investment management system (IMS) to support equity, fixed income, and money market asset management operations at its Kuala Lumpur offices.

CAFM began a phased, independent implementation of Charles River IMS in November 2003 using internal resources.

Choong Yin May, head of technology, CAFM, says: "The system went live on April 5th and we've seen immediate operational improvements including a 50% reduction in our daily trade allocation process."

The first phase of the implementation, completed in March, automated compliance monitoring across all of CAFM's assets under management, including funds governed by Syariah law.

The second phase concentrated on the implementing technology to support CAFM's portfolio management and equity trading operations. The company utilised Charles River's standard interface to Thomson's Portia accounting system to coordinate the transfer of data between the systems.
