The bank will initally use the platform to monitor and manage the performance of three key services, beginning with its Web banking system.

Formula integrates management data from various sources and distributes it to relevant staff at the bank, providing a real-time view of how IT infrastructure resources are working to support key business processes. Svenska Handelsbanken says a pilot implementation of the product across it online banking service sharply reduced the time to identify any problems and helped to shield customers from any adverse impact.

Anders Johansson, head of central data production at Svenska Handelsbanken, says: "In past we have mainly been focusing on the technology perspective in what we are doing and how we are performing. For the future this will change as we will shift the focus to the critical business services we provide, what they consist of and how well we perform delivering those services."
