IP multicasting enables firms to minimise the data traffic on their networks, and the resulting processing loads on clients and servers. Proprietary forms of reliable IP multicast have been developed by vendors such as Tibco and Talarian, with open standards such as PGM and RMTP-II emerging recently.

TS-Associates will present the course – entitled 'A Pragmatic Guide to IP Multicast' - in London on 18 January, 15 February, and 15 March, 2001. Dates for New York have not been finalised.

Matt Campbell, director of high performance network infrastructure, TS-Associates says the programme will provide a solid foundation for those looking to implement IP multicast based solutions, whether they be application or network designers. Among the topics covered in the course will be: an explanation of the concepts of IP multicast, and reliable IP multicast; the evolution and current status of multicast routing; an examination of contemporary reliable IP multicast technologies; an update on open standards for reliable IP multicast; and financial sector implementation case studies.
