HSBC is installing the xpertBridge system from Dublin-based Allfinanz to automate branch-based underwriting of protection product applications.
XpertBridge is a front-end point-of-sale system that electronically captures application details and automates underwriting. HSBC is deploying the system on IBM hardware and middleware.
The bank will integrate the product with its branch banking platform and back-office systems.
Harpal Karlcut, head of life and pensions at HSBC Bank, comments: "XpertBridge will enable our branches to quickly and efficiently underwrite and process new business applications, helping to reduce costs in a competitive market."
Karlcut says the majority of applications will now be accepted at point of sale, significantly improving the service provided to customers.
