The Chicago Board of Trade has installed the Link Wireless Telephone System (Link WTS) from Colorado-based SpectraLink.
The Link WTS integrates with the CBOT's existing Nortel Networks PBX and provides users with the same functionality found in the exchange's existing telephone system.
SpectraLink says its Link wireless telephones are supported by 64 base stations embedded underneath the trading floor and allow futures traders to move throughout the facility and maintain clear uninterrupted voice service.
Ethel Laughlin, vice president of telecommunications for the Cbot, says: "Traders feel more in touch with the market while roaming the trade floor. Link Wireless Telephones for these traders are a productivity tool unlike any other."
