The approval follows the EMV Level 2 certification gained by AEPS for the same products.

Verifone says the package provides the existing installed base of SoftPos users with an easy and cost-effective migration path to the CB5.2 standard, which incorporates EMV specifications.

The SC 5000 is a plug and play device that can also be integrated with other EFT software. The PINpad features a range of security features and adheres to Triple Des (3DES) encryption standards.

The device was also chosen as part of the Visa's Smart Breakthrough Acceptance Device programme.

Seperately, Axalto, formerly Schlumberger Smart Cards & Terminals, has CB5.2 certification from GIE CB for its MagIC 6100 payment terminal. All other terminals in the Axalto MagIC range are set to receive certification under the new standard in the near future says the firm.
