Buttonwood Tree Group hires Cassidy to head new operational consulting practice

The Buttonwood Tree Group, a business and technology consultancy focused on the financial services sector, has appointed Lehman Brothers' Joe Cassidy to set up and manage a new business consulting practice.

The UK-based consultancy says the new practice will aim to help clients establish scaleable operational processes in order to improve trading and payments operations.

Buttonwood says the approach will incorporate advice on all internal processes and external relationships, including correspondent banking, clearing and execution services. The practice will also help firms structure and manage third party services, such as netting, sweep account optimisation, book to book practices and tariffs.

Nigel Walder, CEO, Buttonwood Tree Group, says: "The new service incorporates both change management and implementation. The best in class solutions and tools are considered for banks and brokers to price the services they offer and support them with well structured internal and external operations."

Cassidy was most recently chief administration officer for global equity operations at Lehman Brothers. He has also held the role of European business analysis and business change at the US investment bank.

Prior to Lehman Brothers Cassidy worked for Xansa, a technology services and outsourcing company specialising in the retail banking industry. He also spent 11 years at Barclays Bank covering operations and systems strategy projects at BZW and Barclays Business Banking.
