Canadian direct bank Tangerine is set to be one of the first developers out of he blocks with an Apple Watch app, enabling customers to access their account information from their wrists.
The Tangerine app will be available from the Apple Watch store on 24 April, the day the much-hyped timepiece launches.
Users will be able to see account balances, recent transactions and transaction details, and to receive notifications if previously set thresholds are breached.
Peter Aceto, CEO, Tangerine, says: "We're excited to be one of the first apps available on Apple Watch as we continue to deliver simple and innovative solutions that allow our clients to bank on their own terms."
Other financial services firms already onboard the Apple Watch train include Citi, Fidelity and PFM specialist Mint. Meanwhile, core banking vendor Misys has developed a bank-to-consumer marketing app prototype.
Last year Tangerine's parent, Scotiabank, unveiled a similar balance checking app the Samsung Gear range of smartwatches.
