Mobile network operator Orange has teamed up with MasterCard to launch a rechargeable pre-paid card and mobile app product in Spain.
Compatible with any Spanish mobile number, Orange Cash includes a physical contactless pre-paid card which can be used instore and at MasterCard ATMs.
Customers can also carry out online transactions and use the accompanying iOS and Android app to send money to the phones of other Orange Cash users, check their balance and top-up their accounts.
Ovidio Egido, country manager, MasterCard Spain, says: "With this launch we keep adapting ourselves to the preferences and needs of Spanish consumers, who live in a more digital way every day. Now consumers pay and make their purchases in a way that better fits with their needs and from any available device."
Last week Orange partnered with Visa to launch a different version of the Cash service in French cities Caen and Strasbourg, where users can make contactless payments from a pre-paid account using their handset.
