JPMorgan Chase is to get a good look at the next generation of software geeks emerging from US colleges by launching a 'Code for Good' challenge at its offices across the US.

Building off a successful launch in the UK, the Code for Good Challenges will bring together university students studying technology to creatively solve problems faced by nonprofits during an intense two-day event.

The series of US-based events will kick off in New York, Delaware and Ohio, and will continue in other JPMorgan Chase locations throughout 2013.

Participants will be placed into teams and tasked with putting their coding skills to use for a good cause. JPMorgan Chase technologists will also be involved, advising participants throughout the course of the event. A panel of judges will determine the winning team, which will be announced at the culmination of the two-day event.

Guy Chiarello, JPMorgan Chase's CIO says: "The program offers a unique opportunity for participants to use their skills to benefit nonprofits, while also demonstrating their technology abilities to a leading global organisation. It's a win for all involved."
