RBS & Natwest launch online business supplier community

09 January 2013  |  8985 views  |  1 Royal Bank of Scotland

The Royal Bank of Scotland and Natwest have launched a free online business supplier community for the UK's small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The BizCrowd site comprises a series of noticeboards for industries ranging from antiques to legal services.

Each board lets users pitch for service requirements posted by other businesses - or post their own, while a feedback mechanism lets customers in the community rate registered suppliers.

The boards also have latest news sections, a list of all members, and an area where people can ask industry-related questions of their peers.

Each board has a Twitter account, while the site also has Facebook and Google+ pages and a YouTube channel featuring short videos providing advice to firms on practical skills such as giving presentations.

RBS says the site aims to encourage collaboration between British SMEs as well as help them build their online profiles and generate new business leads.

Chris Sullivan, CEO, corporate banking, RBS & NatWest, says: "It has always been the role of the bank manager to connect British businesses to one another, now we're extending that support online. We hope BizCrowd helps as many SMEs as possible raise their profile and win new business."

I never knew that bankers thought it was their role to connect their business banking customers with one another but even if this B2B portal helps in introducing this new KRA, it's a case of better late than never. Kudos to RBS / NatWest for this initiative.
