MasterCard today announced that Deborah Heng has been appointed group head and general manager of Singapore, taking over from Julienne Loh who is now group head of Consumer Credit, Asia Pacific.

As General Manager,  Ms. Heng will lead all aspects of MasterCard’s business expansion efforts in Singapore, working with banks, non-financial institutions and key merchants to drive business results. She will also be responsible for the rollout of the next generation of payment products and solutions in Singapore as MasterCard continues to innovate for digital convergence.

In her 14 years with MasterCard, Ms. Heng has overseen diverse strategic business deals, delivering against aggressive revenue targets and managing investment budgets across varied geographies – first in Finance for the Asia Pacific region, followed by the Europe region, after which she moved to roles in Customer Relationship Management and Business Development based in Singapore. Prior to this appointment, her most recent role was Division Finance Officer for MasterCard, South East Asia and South Asia.

“We are excited to have Deborah onboard to drive our business efforts forward in Singapore. With her varied and distinguished background in finance and business development, I am sure that Deborah will continue our business momentum and continue to strengthen our partnerships in this critical market for MasterCard,” said Matthew Driver, president, South East Asia, MasterCard.

“It’s an interesting time for the payments industry, and I’m looking forward to leading the next wave of growth for the MasterCard business in Singapore. Being a mature market,  Singapore offers a great launchpad for digital innovations such as mobile and contactless technologies. At the same time, it offers exciting challenges as the industry is a highly competitive one. My goal is to build on the close partnerships we have with our stakeholders and make a real difference in the lives of consumers here – making cashless payments simpler, faster and safer,” said Deborah Heng, group head and general manager, Singapogroup head and general manager, Singapore, MasterCard.

Ms. Heng began her career in public accounting with Deloitte & Touche and has since established herself as a versatile finance professional, working across all aspects of the function from regional controllership, strategy planning to business development. Ms Heng also brings valuable experience from the hospitality industry with international hotel chains Shangri-La, Conrad and Hilton, where she was responsible for the overall hotel financial operations and performance.

Ms. Heng holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from the National University of Singapore and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Nottingham, UK.
