BPC Banking Technologies, the leading provider of Open System payment solutions for the financial industry, announces the successful completion of the Omcard Namibia project.

Powered by the SmartVista installation at Payment Express (PEX), Mauritius and in partnership with Bank Windhoek, the OMCARD from Old Mutual provides customers in Namibia with a unique set of features and benefits including free person-to-person transfers, free POS transactions and no monthly or hidden fees.

OMCARD, a prepaid Visa card, is specifically designed for Old Mutual's customers, providing them with a cash-back rewards program and the ability to link up to four additional cards for their family members. This project is unique for Namibia as the whole card management process may be fulfilled via mobile phones: for added control and convenience the OMCARD may be turned on and off from a customer's mobile phone. SmartVista's advanced capabilities have been used to improve customer service for example by providing notifications on transactions and transferring funds simply by entering the recipient's mobile phone number.

"In launching the OMCARD we wanted to deliver a secure, easy to use and innovative product that is of value to our customers. To do this we knew that we needed to partner with leaders in the field of payments processing and banking and that's why we chose PEX with the SmartVista solution and Bank Windhoek. We enjoy the results and with SmartVista's proven capabilities we are confident that our customers will continue to see the benefits," said Ben Jacobs, Operations Executive at Old Mutual Namibia.

"Our business success has been driven by a relentless focus on rapidly delivering value and innovation to our customers. The OMCARD project is a perfect example of this, and proves once again how SmartVista quickly and easily supports the rapid introduction of new products. We are proud to be helping Old Mutual with this ground breaking project," said Sailesh Sewpaul, CEO Payment Express.

"BPC Banking Technologies' commitment to innovation includes helping our clients to bring new products to the market. We are deliighted to be able to help Old Mutual launch the OMCARD. This is a perfect example of how SmartVista's advanced capabilities can be used by our customers to expand into new markets quickly and easily," added Daryl Berg, Managing Director BPC Africa.
