Powa introduces POS software developer programme

In just two months since the launch of PowaPOS, the first fully integrated, mobile and tablet-based POS platform, Powa Technologies has sealed partnerships with many of the world's leading POS resellers, accelerating global access to next generation payments solutions.

To further support the growing demand for these solutions, Powa Technolgies announces the completion of its Alpha program and rollout of its advanced PowaPOS Software Developer Program to independent software vendors (ISVs) globally. Developers can access the Developer Portal today, via the PowaPOS website.

The PowaPOS Software Developer Program features the PowaPOS SDK and online Developer Portal that, together, simplify app integration with PowaPOS point-of-sale hardware and services, including PowaTag, the company's fast-growing mobile commerce solution that has more than 500 brand partners around the world. PowaTag's global expansion was recently enhanced with the acquisition of Hong Kong-based MPayMe.

"When our team of industry veterans designed PowaPOS, our overriding objective was to simplify the transition to next generation POS. We did that with the industry's first, true all-in-one tablet-based hardware solution," said William Pittman, EVP, Customer Implementation, PowaPOS. "Now, with the PowaPOS Software Developer Program, we're easing integration by building a highly-scalable, platform neutral solution with best-in-class software support to match our best-in-class hardware."

The PowaPOS SDK works seamlessly with existing smartphone and tablet applications. A consistent set of APIs work across iOS, Android and Windows operating systems and drives the PowaPOS T-Series hardware and the PowaPIN EMV-enabled card reader. Standard interfaces are provided for the T-Series' unique integration of tilting/swiveling tablet mount, high-speed printer, 2D barcode scanner, encrypting magnetic stripe reader, EMV-compliant smartcard reader, secure PIN-entry keypad, and cash drawer. The T-25 can also support multiple third-party peripherals when required.

"No other POS product or software developer kit available globally combines all these features, which promises dramatic simplification and enhancement of an ISV's service offering," conttinued Pittman.

"With the PowaPOS SDK, we no longer have to use four or five different developer kits to integrate software with POS hardware," said Joel Vázquez, CEO and CSA, e-Nabler. "Powa gives us a single, unified SDK, resulting in a solution that works for the majority of our eMobilePOS merchant customers with just one integration."

The Developer Portal provides a one-stop-shop for everything developers need to integrate PowaPOS hardware. In addition to immediate access to the latest SDK, the Portal provides a wealth of resources and tools, including support ticketing, 24/7 support for managed accounts via email and online chat, FAQs, feature requests, forums and the latest announcements. Phone support is also available for managed accounts. Additional features available in the Developer Portal include:
• Drivers for T-series hardware including printer, stand, cash drawer and barcode reader
• Drivers for PowaPIN hardware, enabling pin pad EMV support for apps without a need to understand the complexities of EMV
• Sample applications, with code, for cut and paste addition to applications, to get up and going quickly

The global launch of the Software Developer Program follows the completion of Powa's Alpha program, an invitation-only partnership with a select group of developers from across the globe. These partners helped to enhance the PowaPOS SDK and praised the PowaPOS program for its ease of use, responsive support, and continued enhancements.

"The PowaPOS SDK takes care of the most cumbersome aspects of integration through its well-documented API and we are excited to bring this and the PowaPOS T25 to developers and merchants across Brazil", said Heman Molina, CEO, uMOBILE, a Sao Paulo-based systems integrator and PowaPOS master distributor in Brazil.

"Our customers simply love the PowaPOS T-Series. The developer program is a powerful tool for us to enable a wide array of vertical market applications and value added services for merchants," added Adeline Phua, VP Infocomm, Payment Solutions, Nera Telecommunications, a leading systems integrator across Asia Pacific.

"The PowaPOS SDK came with clear documentation and an easy to use, informative developer portal. Exactly what our developers need to deliver quick integration", said Rhys Warren, Managing Director, Sektor, PowaPOS distributor in Australia and New Zealand.
