GoCardless taps Callcredit for AML checks

12 March 2014  |  1234 views  |  0 Source: GoCardless

GoCardless has integrated Callcredit Information Group's CallValidate solution in order to enhance their anti-money laundering strategy.

The online Direct Debit provider makes it simple for anyone to start collecting payments online. GoCardless collects millions of pounds per month for UK businesses, and serves more businesses than any other UK Direct Debit provider.

GoCardless will use the CallValidate API to perform full anti-money laundering checks for each merchant signing up to use the service. Implementing CallValidate ensures that only genuine merchants are able to use the GoCardless service, and since the checks are completed in real-time merchants can still get started with GoCardless in less than 60 seconds.

Behind the scenes, for each signup CallValidate will check a comprehensive range of quality data sources available for identity verification, including checks against the full electoral roll and a range of credit account data. Further, CallValidate takes care of checking the Politically Exposed Person and Sanctions lists. These checks will not only provide GoCardless with the most granular view of a merchant but will also provide them with clarity on when and why further ID checks need to be completed.

Grey Baker, Head of Operations at GoCardless, commented "As a technology company, we know the value of working with a simple, robust API. Integrating with CallValidate has been straightforward and the results returned are easy to process. It's fantastic to be working with a partner who thinks about technology in the same way as us."

With Callcredit's backing, Gocardless have also developed and open-sourced a Callcredit Ruby client library. This reduces the amount of work required to integrate with Callvalidate to just a couple of lines of code, and will massively reduce the time-to-market for future clients that work in Ruby.

Sadie Guymer, E-Business Sales Manager at Callcredit added "It's been a pleasure to work alongside an innovative company such as GoCardless. Integrating our CallValidate solution will provide them with further confidence that those using their payment services are genuine, without the need for lengthy paper based checks"
