First Data Corporation, a global leader in electronic commerce and payment processing, and Chartway Federal Credit Union, today announced the companies recently finalized a long-term strategic merchant services partnership.

Under terms of the agreement, First Data will partner with Chartway Federal Credit Union to distribute payment processing services to the credit union's members throughout their client-facing channels, including its 59 branch network spanning 10 states. First Data will manage operations, risk management and merchant sales activities, leveraging the Chartway Federal Credit Union brand and the strength of its relationships.

"At Chartway Federal Credit Union, we are deeply committed to finding ways to save our members money," said Derek Tinsley, director of product management. "This partnership offers us the opportunity to do just that - to make the credit union difference by giving them access to a valuable, cost-saving merchant services processor."

"Our strategic focus in the small business segment aligns well with Chartway's commitment to provide its members with the mission critical tools they need to run their business on a daily basis," said Neal Korzekwinski, senior vice president, First Data. "As the payments landscape evolves at an unprecedented rate, First Data is committed to shaping the transformation of the client and consumer experience at the point of sale."
