Brighton and Hove Buses have today launched a new mobile ticketing solution to service the community of Brighton and Hove, powered by Corethree's award-winning Core Engine integration platform.

Consistent investment in innovation has enabled the company over the last year to keep at the forefront of new technology offering, with CCTV on buses, GPS tracking and next stop displays and announcements. Delivering m-ticketing will enhance the passenger experience further, offering an easy way to purchase tickets and board buses. Discounts will be offered to those who use the new service regularly.

Chris Kirk, Commercial Manager for Brighton & Hove Buses says, "Brighton & Hove Buses are very pleased to have the opportunity to launch such cutting edge technology in our fast paced and cosmopolitan town. Our society advances by extending the number of important jobs that we can perform without thinking of them. Our M-Ticket app will be an extension of this inevitable and exciting tech!"

The mobile ticketing solution, provided by Corethree, will offer mobile ticketing services for iPhone and Android devices to passengers making 48 million journeys every year. Bus passengers will be able to browse, select and then purchase bus tickets using their smartphone, with easy one-time registration of payment details and on-screen tickets that can be used within seconds of purchase. Pre-purchased mobile tickets are discounted, providing exceptional value to local residents and visitors to the area.

Due to the natural take up of new technology, Brighton & Hove buses have targeted the large population of students in Brighton as the first to use the service, offering discounts on tickets when using smartphones. Routes 23, 24 and 25 have been initially targeted to trail the service, with further routes being added as take up of the services grows.

The Brighton & Hove M-Ticketing service is free to download and use, with a simple sign-up that takes a matter of seconds, available for all major iOS and Android smart phones from the App Store and Google Play, and via getcore.mobi/brighton from smartphone browsers.

Corethree's CEO, Ashley Murdoch said "mobile ticketing and live services information are becoming increasingly popular with UK transport operators as they realise the benefits of operational efficiencies and provide a more enhanced customer experience. Corethree are at the cutting edge of this technology and are proud to be supporting Brighton & Hove Buses. We will continue to provide product innovation and look forward to the next phase of enhancing these mobile services."
