In outsourcing their IT services to external providers, the savings banks aim to cut their costs and achieve higher quality. Wincor Nixdorf is currently assuming responsibility for the remote monitoring of over 11,800 self-service systems at a total of 108 Sparkasse banks throughout Germany. The latest to join up are Taunus Sparkasse with 84 systems and Sparkasse am Niederrhein with 153 self-service systems.

Services offered to the individual institutes range from a standalone remote service to self-service system operations management and are supplied by Wincor Nixdorf or its subsidiaries ProsystemsIT and Portavis.

Under the terms of remote service, the Sparkasse systems are monitored 24/7 from afar. As soon as problems are detected, specific remote measures are initiated to remedy them. Problems can also be avoided by taking preventive measures up front. The proactive service translates into higher system availability and shorter system downtimes and thus into lower costs. A total of over 30 percent of faults can be rectified via remote access. The technology base that is used to do so is the eServices Platform.

Operations management services cover the entire management of self-service systems. In addition to remote service, the company is also responsible for administration of the self-service systems and applications. A help desk is ready to provide support for the savings banks on both IT and banking issues.

The service guarantees financial institutions transparency when it comes to problems and inquiries. Likewise, it can also greatly improve system availability and processing times.
