Turquoise chief Lederman to keynote at Finexpo

Eli Lederman, the newly-installed chief executive of bank-backed equities trading venue Turquoise, is among a roster of top-level keynote speakers participating in this year's Finexpo, the capital markets industry's leading technology conference and exhibition, taking place at The Brewery, Chiswell Street, London on 30 January.

Lederman moved from Morgan Stanley - where he was a managing director in the investment bank's sales and trading division - in early December. In his first stand-alone public speaking engagement as chief executive of Turquoise, Lederman will update the Finexpo audience on the latest developments regarding the pan-European trading facility, and detail the company's plans for competing with incumbent exchanges.
Lederman will be joined by a host of other senior industry practitioners in the Finexpo seminar streams, who will debate and discuss the key issues facing capital markets participants over the coming year:

  • George Andreadis, head of AES liquidity strategy Europe, Credit Suisse, will address the industry's quest for Alpha through the pursuit of liquidity in dark pools
  • Marc Bayle, T2S programme manager, European Central Bank, will discuss progress on the ECB's contentious proposals for harmonising settlement across European borders through the Target2 programme
  • David Clark, chairman, Wholesale Markets Brokers Assocation and a fellow at the Institute of Operational Risk, will outline the lessons learned for operational risk professionals from the sub-prime crisis and the ongoing credit crunch
  • Udayan Goyal, director and co-head of Financial Technology Advisory Financial Institutions Group, Deutsche Bank, will outline the prospects for further M&A activity in the rapidly consolidating exchange-trading space
  • Lee Hodgkinson, CEO of virt-x speaks on the challenges for exchanges in the new competitive landscape
  • Stavros Siokos, managing director and head of European Alternative Execution Sales, Citigroup, will explore new directions for algorithmic trading in turbulent markets and among new asset classes.

Finexpo also plays host to a large exhibition floor of specialist technology vendors and suppliers to the industry, covering the complete front-to-back office spectrum of products and services.
Reflecting its growing importance in the financial calendar, Finexpo 2008 has attracted headline sponsorship from Reuters, MetaStorm and IBM and the backing of Icma, FIX Protocol and the Institute of Operational Risk.
Attendance at Finexpo is restricted to qualified business decision-makers and IT professionals from capital markets institutions and investment banks.
