The cashless - or chequeless - society is still some way off, according to this survey of US bill paying habits by the Pew Research Centre.

When it comes to both everyday living purchases and monthly billpaying, the Pew survey of more than 2000 US adults, finds that both the old (cash and cheques) and new (online and plastic) payment modes have their following.
