The IMF considers the global economic and financial impact of an avian flu pandemic.
Prepared by the Avian Flu Working Group (in consultation with Departments and the Joint Bank-Fund Health Services Department), the study suggests that a pandemic outbreak would have a significant, but short-lived impact on the global economy.
The document highlights the importance of business continuity planning, particularly in the financial services sector, in limiting the damage caused by a pandemic and in speeding economic recovery.
