Tough on crime

Source: Government Accountability Office

The US Government Accountability Office reviews the steps taken by key financial market participants to protect their systems against malicious electronic attacks.

The GAO report examines the information security programmes implemented by seven un-named financial market organisations.

The study finds that each of the organisations has implemented the five major elements of a sound information security programme, but cautions that more should be done to safeguard systems.

The document explains the benchmarking principles used and identifies the remedial actions needed to tighten up security.
