ATM transaction volumes - the story behind the numbers

ATM transaction volumes - the story behind the numbers

Source: Diebold

Declining ATM transaction volumes have sparked comment that the cash machine is waning in popularity. ATM manufacturer Diebold disputes the analysis, and urges the industry to look beyond mere transaction counts.

US trade reports like the EFT Data Book and the ATM Deployer Study have painted a picture of declining ATM transaction volumes.

In this analysis, Diebold argues that there is a real danger in misinterpreting data and drawing unintended conclusions from the data that is found in these reports.

"Average ATM transaction volumes have traditionally been the barometer for evaluating ATM performance," says the vendor. "Erroneous conclusions about trends in those numbers can impact decisions that deployers might make and might present an inaccurate picture of the state of the industry."
