The US Department of Justice suggested best practices on computer and Internet security for financial institutions.

Use of these best practices should minimise damage to computer networks from attacks and maximize opportunities to find the source of the attack, to prevent further attacks, and to hold the responsible parties accountable for their actions, says the DoJ.
National resources for network security, incident response, and reporting to law enforcement are also available, and appended to this document.
