Your payment's not in the post

This national survey into US consumer payment preferences shows a growth potential for automated bill payment using electronic direct debiting, or e-checks, among many key demographic markets.

This potential appears strongest among Americans under 45, Caucasians, Hispanics, and high-income households, says the polling company, which undertook the research among a sample of 800 US consumers on behalf of Paymentech.
While paper cheques remain the primary method for bill payments, the research finds that busy parents and heads of households are the most willing to embrace e-checking as a form of bill payment, and are the most likely to choose to do business with a company in the future because it offers online bill payment
Furthermore, the comfort level and frequency with which consumers opt for e-checking increases with usage, with frequent users more likely to say it had become their preferred method of bill payment.
