The carbon neutral data centre

Source: Open Data Centre Alliance

A white paper from the Open Data Centre Alliance on National Australia Bank's carbon neutral data centre designs.

This white paper explores NAB’s ongoing efforts to drive higher technology efficiency and lower carbon emissions. Continuing improvements to NAB’s operational footprint, as well as the development of a new strategic data center scheduled to come online in late 2013, form part of the long-term plan. The goal is to realise 90% virtualisation of servers across the company by the time the project is completed.

Also discussed is the impact of NAB’s technology strategy on its long-term business sustainability. Finally, NAB provides guidance for other organizations that plan to update their data centre operations.
