Mobile banking users want less hype, better service

Britain’s banks are losing out on WAP services. To succeed, they must replace today’s unwieldy transaction offerings with simpler customer-oriented services, says Forrester Research analyst Charlotte Hamilton.

UK retail banks have rushed to offer WAP banking but find few customers have used these services - fewer than 200,000 of the 1 million UK online bankers who own WAP phones use them to access their account.
Banks cannot afford to ignore the mobile platform, says Forrester, but they can avoid repeating past mistakes - like rushing out untested services in slavish devotion to WAP hype.
