Financial e-marketplaces face bleak future

Financial e-marketplaces face bleak future

Source:

This report by Deloitte Consulting and the Judge Institute of Management Studies at the University of Cambridge explores the emergence of e-exchanges in the financial marketplace, assesses the achievements of current participants and develops some insights on how future success will be achieved.

The market for multi-institution electronic trading exchanges is set to enter a dynamic phase, say the report's authors, which will be marked by rapid consolidation and a fundamental transformation of financial market infrastructures.
Of the e-exchanges already developed or in development, many will be out of business in the next two to three years predicts the report. They will be victims of consolidation or failure, leaving significant opportunities for those who survive.
Increased global reach and multi-product range will be key characteristics of surviving e-exchanges.
