Mobile banking thwarted by huge security overhead.

Mobile applications will rise to meet the needs of online banking for the next few years. Apparently a fact. My contention is that there will be a similar rise in the complexity of these applications and the power of the platforms that they sit on. As this complexity and power rise unabated, the need for each member in the value Chaplin to mutually authenticate its immediate neighbor in the chain will become more urgent. Discuss. Mutual authentication and the trust model that support it is a huge design, implementmentation, compliance checking and operational overhead. Just huge. Big enough, I wager, that few will attempt it, leading to the thwarting what I mentioned in the title. I wish it were not so, but experience has shown me that similar schemes have fallen at this hurdle. PLEASE convince me that I am wrong!
