I wish I'd known it was walk to work day - I would've done just that today, even tho' it would've been a bit of a hike from North Greenwich. Mind you it may have been quicker than the Jublilee line was today.
As the web site helpfully mentions - walking is free, a great way to stay healthy and it makes you feel good too. And in the case of London it's often quicker than the bus or tube, although the rather random layout of streets can be challenging to visitors used to a grid layout - think of a spaghetti like pile of moebius strips.
So - assuming it isn't raining - I may walk home.
I only found out it was walk to work day by reading the free paper on the Tube - where I also found out that the TFL web site has been nominated for a webby - for being useable, visually excellent, accessible and generally all-round well designed. I also like the SMS travel alerts. Slick. So the TFL web site's clearly sorted - now if they can just get the transport itself running....
